The public got their first view of the new Harrah's Entertainment Center in Wetumpka, AL. Harrah's first expansion into Alabama appears to be an impressive facility. It also brings the first big time casino to Alabama, which currently has primarily converted facilities in dog tracks with slots.
The project will cost an estimate $255 million dollars, employ 800 people, pumping $25 million in payroll into the local economy. Groundbreaking is set for July with a 2Q 2008 opening.
The facility will have 1600 slots, 350 seat buffet, 200 seat steakhouse, 120 seat resturant, coffee shop, and three retail outlets. The hotel will be 14 floors with 355 rooms and 29 suites.
